Can I be Inanely Superficial and Vapid for one entry?
I thought I'd do a cute fashion/beauty entry for a change:)I hope that you all will of course laugh with me as I write this fashion post, and understand that most of it is for laughs, not necessarily true, as it is with all of my posts (who knew I'd be writing a disclaimer for a post, lol!!!). And so it begins...
Oh my passion, my wardrobe. As much as I hate to admit, my wardrobe is a true reflection of me. I currently own a ton of winter coats, just to make sure that I have one to fit every single one of my moods. Usually I wear the bright/bold ones so that they can speak for me. Let everyone know my craziness, my fervor for life, my affect- without having to say a word! But I would definitely suggest that everyone purchase either a North Face and/or Burberry coat. These are currently quite trendy, and also very functional. I opted to buy the North Face Marie Jacket, and it's not really bulky like the other ones, so I don't look like some eskimo girl when I wear it. I'm currently waiting to purchase the Burberry jacket. I want the edenson, which is a cute zip up jacket. It looks very sophisticated (if you purchase it in black, or perhaps the purple or sage). But it is imperative that you purchase a subtle color when you buy the Burberry jackets! I cannot stress the importance of this factor. I have seen women in Tysons wearing ugly chartreuse Burberry jackets, and it looks so passe. And OMG, last week I saw some lady in NYC wearing an ugly colored one too. Don't do it, you'll look like someone who purchased their jacket from the sales rack, cuz that's the only place that ugly color is meant to be.
Hmm, now it's on to tops. Right now, I'm still sporting the winter wardrobe of cashmere sweaters. Before winter commenced, I was ecstatic about wearing sweaters, cuz I always thought that they were cute. Now I kind of hate them. I'm so over them. All I can say is don't go overboard with stocking up on sweaters. You'll get tired of them quickly. Just get a few, like the Vince ones! Their cashmere is pretty good quality. And buy cute long sleeved T's. I like T, Park Vogel, C&C, and James Perse.
Next is the jeans guide. Jeans are like the most important part of my wardrobe. I basically live in them, so I want them to be comfortable, somewhat trendy, and show off my assets, lol. So you're looking for a pair of jeans. Rigid or stretch? I would definitely go with stretch. Trust your instincts. Seriously, do you want to be uncomfortable all day wearing those rigid Sevens JUST because they're fashionable? You don't, you really don't. Trust me, I have been in that situation, and I won't be going back there again. Get the stretch. And don't worry about the length, you can always go to the tailor and get them hemmed. I know I do, cuz I'm a shorty, hehehe. So here's my evaluation of the brands:
Seven For All Mankind- works for everyone! try for a classic style, like the NYD stretch bootcut.
AG (adriano goldschmied)- the best for curvy women!! I love this maker, and I wear them ALL of the time. Eve wears them too, yay!
Citizens of Humanity- love love love these jeans. These are the ones that you wear when you want to make a statement. I like the Naomi style with the cute pink argyle stitching on the booty! Oh, and I like the Ingrid, the Kelly ( I could go on and on but I won't)...
Blue Cult- In my opinion, these jeans are a waste of money. They're cheaply made and they shrink easily (or maybe it's that chocolate cake I had last night??.
James- hell no. Do not buy these jeans if you are a curvy girl with a tiny waist. I tried these on in the store, and I had to try on multiple sizes to find ones that would actually fit over my thunder thighs. But by then, it didn't matter because they didn't fit my waist at all.
Miss Sixty- my first pair of designer denim. I like them a lot, you have to be really confident to wear them because they show off EVERYTHING. They're really tight fitting.
True Religion- I really like the Joey with the cute pockets! They have an extremely long inseam, but I like them.
OK, so since I can't stand to write about fashion for extended periods of time, I will only write a little bit more, which will consist of handbags and shoes.
Handbags are my favorite little items in the entire universe! At first I loved the cute Kate Spade nylon bags, but I definitely moved on to bigger and better. First of all every girl NEEDS a Marc Jacobs bag. I have the Multipocket, and it's quite functional. Currently, I'm lemming the Stella, but we'll see when that gets fulfilled, lol. Anyways, Marc's bags are classic and loved by all.Ooh, and Kooba and Botkier bags are hot right now too. And the all time fave would be the Chole Paddington! Louis Vuitton is probably the most passe, but I will forgive the cherry blossom Murakami bags.
As for shoes, it's Jimmy Choo and Manolo Blahnik all the way. I'm still waiting for my boots to arrive, tears.
