The Glamorous Life of a Grad Student

Oh I think they like me...

Well, I got through my first exam period of grad school. Despite the fact that I was in pain throughout most of my Wednesday exam, and was experiencing major side effects from my second Lupron shot, I actually survived! Go me!

Yeah, so the day before my stats exam, I had to go to health services to take my second dose of the 3 month Lupron depot. So, I went to health services to take the shot, and the nurse is like, yeah, I need the instructions for this shot. I was about to say, don't mess up, that shot is $1400, definitely more than what I make in a semester. She was freaking me out with how she had to actually read the instructions carefully...

So let's recap last Thursday, the bad part of it. As I was leaving the apt to go to work, I took a trash bag down to the dumpster too. I was also carrying a bag with a present for my boss. So after going to the dumpster, I got in my car and drove to work. When I parked my car, I got my backpack, but then I was like, oh no, where's the bag with the gift for my boss? It's not in the car, so I have to drive back and get it. So as I was driving back, I was thinking of places that I put it, like maybe I left it in my room. Then it occurred to me, oh my goodness, what if I threw it in the dumpster with the trash??? When I got back, I went to the dumpster and peeked in, and there was the bag, thankfully with its contents still in it. But I left my boss' present in the trash can. So with such problems, I'm really coming to terms with the fact that I am indeed having some side effects, and now I need to find a way to cope, like take some gingkoba.

Anyways, so Zeus is back. On Thursday, after I said goodbye to my library boss, he took me out to dinner, and I had the most fun in the world. It's funny how my favorite times in New Haven are when I'm at church, at my sorority meetings, or with Zeus. So basically, we had our usual convos. But at the end of the night, he gave me the cutest Christmas present, and it practically made me melt! He gave me this cute cow with a Yale shirt, a candy cane filled with chocolate, and more chocolate. He knows me too well, lol. Even though we're just friends, he's already inspired me to commence a new project! Details in the upcoming weeks!

So I've thought about it and I've come to a decision. I'm so tired of hearing certain people tell me stuff like "I can't wait to do dirty things to you". Um, ok. Not going to happen. EVER. Your chapter in my life is dunzo, and maybe it never really even began. My year of fun times has come to a close, and I am ready to face my future. The shepherd must be happy, cuz his little lamb has returned, unscathed by it all. A little bit wiser and worldly, but never leaving the straight and narrow.

Oh, and i forgot to say, the highlight of last week was definitely hearing some hick-ish white boy yell in the hotel lobby "Oh I think they like me" from dem franchize boyz. I was so shocked, yet I found it quite amusing.

Old white biddies in Sally's!?!?!?!

Well, it's been an interesting week. Maybe too interesting. Let's see, on Wednesday, I went to my first sex shop! Crazy, right? I had just finished my small groups class, which was held at a tae kwon do facility, and the sex shop was right next to it. So my group members and I went in. Unfortunately, everyone was laughing, so we got carded :( And I so wanted my first time to be a mature and sophisticated affair! The shop was a sight to behold, with the gay porn and anime videos. I saw a bong for the first time too. I asked everyone if it was supposed to represent a penis with herpes. Then, there were wayyy too many dildos and vibrators. There was even a g-spot vibrator. See, I go on adventures in CT too! Maybe this whole thing should just be called "the many adventures of alisha".

So on Friday, I went to Sally's to get deep conditioner for my hair. I went inside, thinking that it would be like the usual Sally's. No. Apparently Sally's in CT is a whole lot different from the ones in MD and VA. There were no black people. I was in shock. And only old white ladies were there, which just surprised me even more. I've never seen more than 2 white people in Sally's so I was just competely astonished to see 4 white people, and no black folks at all. Vanessa told me that Sally's also happens to cater to the white community too! I had no idea! But that's cool, I learn something new every day.

Friday night was actually one of the best nights I've had in New Haven, truth be told. I decided to go to Happy Hour at Corner Pocket, and was able to finalize my plans for the night with Gaird, Derek, and Zach. I returned to the apt to get "hot and sexy" for the night. We went to Playwrighte and had a couple of drinks. It was interesting, I won't elaborate. The best part of the night was when we went to Bottegas. I knew we were entering the hot spot when I heard Sean Paul blasting inside as I was paying to get in. So we danced and drank the night away (ok, so I danced, lol). I was in for a treat too: Zach, Derek, and Gaird actually danced, which made me quite elated.

On Saturday, nessie ness and I went to Guilford to a cute little place called Martin's for brunch. Of course we got our asses lost first. And I saved Vanessa's life, and she is forever indebted to me, lol. Joking, about the last part. But some old lady was backing up her car, and she wasn't looking. She was headed for Vanessa, and I was so stunned so I couldn't even tell Vanessa to move. I just pushed her out of the way. Then I called the lady a whore, lol. Vanessa was like, "Alisha!" cuz she thought I was just blurting out whore inappropriately. But then she saw the lady trying to kill her, and then she understood that it was good for me to say an expletive.

We finally got to the restaurant. It was so cute and quaint. I ordered blueberry pancakes and french toast, and Vanessa had the greek omelette. But the lady messed up on her order and gave her a western omelette. But the food was still FABULOUS! And I was full all day from it. After tasty brunch, we took a brisk walk around town, stopping in various shops to admire their wares. The town kinda reminds me of merchant's square, cuz it has all these expensive shops that have items that you know you can't afford. But it was still fun, browsing and all.

And yesterday was my 2nd bday! Yes, Fall 03 is 2 years old. I love all of my LS's, and I'm thankful that we've all had the chance to grow together, and share such beautiful experiences with one another.

Well, I should go prepare for the presentation. blah.
